Our first filmed journey; really the beginning of a serious undertaking to produce this documentary and something which determined our main theme of how this case has effected individuals. We accompanied James Renner - mauramurray.blogspot.com - to Canada as he followed up on credible Maura sightings and theories. We were with him for four days which resulted in some pretty thought-provoking footage.

Canada Traffic
Not as bad as Boston. Definitely not as bad as LA.
Setting Up Shop
After a long drive to Canada, including border patrol asking us "who is Maura Murray to you?" we took some time to set up a quick production base at our hotel before heading out into town.
Keep Shooting
Probably telling our cameraman Josh to keep shooting no matter what. Or just telling him he should put on a warmer jacket when we go out.
The First Canadian Flyer
The first flyer we posted in Canada. We drove through town the next morning and discovered most of them were still intact.
One of the First Stops
We were not sure how the night would develop, only that we would be accompanying James as he posted flyers and inquired at various bars, gyms and shops. We had discussed so many methods on how to shoot everything and knew it would be a bit of trial and error. Most places would say they hadn't seen Maura, we assumed...but what if? This little boutique was one of our first successful stops.
The Listening Game
The method we decided on was to have Tim (with a FlipCam) and James (mic'd for audio) enter into these establishments to inquire about Maura. Josh was shooting the building from the outside as well as my reaction as I listened to the conversation they were having inside.
"She's in the morgue.."
...is what this man told us as James and Tim exited another bar after asking the bartender if she has ever seen Maura and could you please hang this sign somewhere visible. He had been standing there in the corner and gave us some information which turned the entire mood of the evening.
"That's all I have to say..."
But that was not all he had to say as we found out when we caught up with him a little further up the street.
Wondering What Just Happened.
Watching our Mystery Man walk away. He gave us all the information he cared to give us and made his way into the night. We have no way of verifying his claims.
Casino Jester
This was a strange night. We were following up on a long-shot-type theory James had involving a poker player who might have helped Maura disappear. James knew he gamed at this particular casino in Canada so we headed out there to see if we could happen upon him.
A Snapshot of Documents
James laid out all the documents he's acquired in his investigation. Rather impressive to see all he's got his hands on.
Yearbook Pic
From Maura's yearbook, sophomore year. She was featured in it a few times but this nearly incidental clip really stood out to us.
